An Interesting Article: Why Singing in a Choir Makes You Happier

Dear Old Friends and New Friends,

We would love to learn more about you! Please fill out the form above and we can contact you about joining us for our upcoming season. Auditions are painless - We promise! We really just need to hear that you can sing in tune and we can place you in an appropriate section that you are comfortable singing in (soprano 1, soprano 2, alto 1 or alto 2 for the Women’s Chorus, tenors Bari/Bass for the Men). We require you to bring sheet music (or ask us when scheduling your audition if we have it on the shelf for you to borrow) and sing a “melodic” verse and chorus of any song, in any style. We will provide a piano accompanist. We schedule a 10 minute slot, so that we can chat a bit and get to know you. Chamber Chorus members will be asked to sight read a short passage.

WWC Chorus members that wish to audition for the Chamber group will do so from 9:00-9:45 at the first rehearsal. Men can choose any of the the 3 regular audition dates to sing, and must make an appointment (914-420-8966) and fill out the online form.

The WWC and WCC groups encourages diversity. We always promote, nurture and support all ethnicities and religious affiliations and encourage anyone that wants to sing in either chorus to come out and audition.

DUES: There will be a minimal charge for chorus participation: $25 for this session. You will receive a folder (Which you can purchase or return in perfect condition) and music, which you must return at the end of the concert season.

MEMBER EXPECTATIONS: You will be required to:

  • Attend most rehearsals and practice your music with provided recordings. Attend ALL mandatory rehearsals for tech week.

  • Volunteer for a small job (or as a leader if you choose to organize a group). Some examples are: publicity, concert refreshments, help at rehearsals, etc. There will be a sign up list.

  • Sell 2 ads for the December program.

Our general concert format is as follows:

December: Two large public concerts (with about 15-20 songs), followed by some fun caroling in Peekskill restaurants and singing in a few local nursing homes and possible private concerts.

Spring: (Auditions take place in January-February) Several small concerts for special events throughout the spring through the July 4th weekend. (6-10 songs + National Anthem)

Tell your friends to get on our list!! You won’t regret it! We have the most talented singers and fun group around!

Sincerely,

Carol Arrucci - Director / Conductor
